The official name for the post-Thanksgiving day shopping around the globe should officially be changed to Amazon Black Friday. The online giant is taking the occasion a step further than their brick and mortar counterparts by starting the holiday week off with what they are calling Cyber Monday deals, starting the Monday before Thanksgiving. This week-long event leads up to tremendous deals on electronics, DVDs, video games, fashion accessories, shoes, jewelry and more. The sales will continue throughout the official shopping day, and will pick up again the following Monday, with another Cyber Monday sales event.

Update 11/19: Amazon officially started its Black Friday Deals Week on Monday, November 19th.  The deals include discounts on clothing, televisions, computers & accessories, video games, video game systems, watches, Blu-rays & DVD’s, and many other items.

Monday’s Deal of the Day is Up to 50% Off Select Panasonic LUMIX G-Series Compact System Cameras.  The prices range from $279.99 through $529.99, with four different cameras available today.  They feature 3-inch touchscreens, 14-42mm Zoom lenses and many more powerful features.

Update 11/18: Amazon’s last day of “Countdown to Black Friday Week” deals is today, Sunday 11/18.  Today there are specials on big items including a 40-inch LED HDTV with a built in WiFi web browser.  The Samsung model allows for enjoying streaming content online in addition to your regular cable, satellite and other entertainment devices.
